The Gene I Inherited
In the farthest village, so far that even to this day there is neither road, nor water, nor electricity, an ambitious man was born. He started church education, as every man around him did.
Luckily, normal education started kilometers away, and he was able to finish two grades in one year since the curriculum allowed that for excellent students. But it was only up to grade 6. He was ambitious enough to dream of moving out of that village to the city, making him the first and only one from their village.
It wasn't easy. At that time, he had married my mom. So moving out to the city meant providing for the home, so he was working during the daytime and learning at night.
This wasn't it. Since my grandparents needed help on the farm, both my mom and dad were going every weekend and some additional days when things got busy, like summer. It still takes 5/6 hours to reach the village for strong men. Imagine when you have additional things weighing 10 kgs to carry as well.
After finishing grade 10, he started his diploma in law at a college. Since he was good at communication and management, he was able to secure a job in the government even before he finished his education. He started learning Management in a degree as an additional extension.
Then he knew he needed a business on the side, so he opened a shop and bakery. Yeah, I have been a shopkeeper since I was in grade 6 😁.
He continued law in an advanced diploma in another city when I was in grade 8. All these educations gave my dad higher positions.
Only God knows what he has been through, especially in these 6/7 years, including the war, but now he is 46 years old and after all this, he is a first-year law bachelor's degree student at Raya University. His plan is to open his own legal firm, and he is working on that.
People look for motivation to do better; I already have it in my gene. I inherited a gene that never stops, that is ambitious enough to dream outside his environment, a gene that is resilient to whatever difficulty comes, that is so kind that everyone goes to him for help, a gene that fears and serves God every day, and a gene that never fails to protect his family.
This is why I am going to make it.
